Meet Our New Full-Time Speech-Language Pathologist: Maggie

We’re excited to welcome an experienced, compassionate, and specialized pediatric speech-language pathologist (SLP) to our team! With a deep commitment to neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed care, Maggie brings a wealth of clinical expertise and a family-centered approach that supports children and their caregivers across communication, feeding, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) needs.

Background & Clinical Expertise

Maggie has spent her entire career in pediatric private practice working with neurodivergent children and families. Her training and experience include advanced, specialized work in:

  • Pediatric Feeding Disorders (PFD)

    • Evaluation and treatment for picky eating, food refusal, texture progression, and oral motor delays

She is skilled at supporting complex cases that cross these domains (for example, a child with feeding challenges who is also developing language via a SGD/AAC system) and takes pride in creating thoughtful, functional, and realistic plans that fit each child’s strengths and family priorities.

Therapy Philosophy & Approach

Maggie’s practice is rooted in three core principles:

  1. Neurodiversity-Affirming Care

    • She centers the child’s identity, strengths, and ways of interacting with the world

    • Therapy goals are functional and respectful of neurodivergent communication styles

  2. Trauma-Informed Practices

    • Safety, predictability, consent, and choice are integrated into session

    • Interventions avoid coercion and prioritize the child’s emotional and sensory comfort

  3. Child-Led, Play-Based Intervention

    • Sessions follow the child’s interests and natural rhythms

    • Play is the engine for communication growth

    • Opportunities are created that feel meaningful and motivating to the child, while also coaching caregivers to embed strategies into daily routines

Family involvement is central: caregivers are coached and supported to carry learning into home, school, and community contexts. Collaboration with teachers, occupational therapists, pediatricians, and other providers is standard practice.
